Free Shipping for Orders Over a Certain Quantity

Overview

For merchants who would like to provide free shipping on certain methods based on a quantity of products in the cart, this guide will outline how to do so using a shipping rule.

For this example, we’ll use UPS Ground when the order has over 10 items.

This rule can be used along with other conditions, such as shipping groups, destinations, and/or price points, as well.

Prerequisites

• You’ll need at least one Carrier set up in ShipperHQ

Steps

1. Navigate to the Shipping Rules option on the left navigation menu and then click +New.

2. When prompted to select the action you would like to perform, select Offer Free Shipping.

3. Select how you want to apply your free shipping option.

4. Select the method(s) that you want to offer for free. In this case, we’ll select Ground, however, you may select as many options as you want and each will be overridden with free shipping. 

5. Select Quantity for the condition that is required for the rule to apply.

6. Assign the quantity of products you want to use for offering free shipping.

We’ll use 10.

If you would like to edit the quantity filter later, this can be done by navigating to the Filters link on the left navigation menu. 

7. After applying the quantity and proceeding, a summary of the shipping rule will be displayed.

Be sure to add a title for the new rule so that it can be easily identified in the shipping rules list and when testing.

8. Click “Finish” to save the new rule. This will apply the rule immediately.

Once the rule has been created, we recommend using the “Test your Rates” feature to confirm the new rule is working as intended.

Conclusion

Once completed, ShipperHQ will apply free shipping defined in this rule for UPS Ground whenever the quantity of items in the cart is 10 or more.

Additional Options

By combining the Quantity Filter with other Filters or Shipping Groups or Shipping Zones you can define more specific scenarios in which to offer free shipping. You can also use this same approach to assign a Flat Rate for shipping instead of $0.
