Troubleshooting Rate Discrepancies Between Test Your Rates and the Storefront

If you notice that the rates shown in Test Your Rates differ from those displayed on your storefront, follow the steps below to identify and resolve the issue.

1. Verify Product and Shipping Data

Check that all product details used in the storefront and Test Your Rates are consistent. Pay special attention to:

  • Shipping groups: Ensure products are assigned to the proper shipping groups.

  • Dimensions and weight: Verify product dimensions and weights match what ShipperHQ expects.

  • Packing rules: Confirm that any custom packing rules are correctly applied.

Even small inconsistencies in this data can cause ShipperHQ to return different rates.

2. Check the Cart Setup

Compare the cart on your storefront with the one in Test Your Rates:

  • Ensure the quantities, products, originsshipping addresses are identical.

  • If possible, replicate the storefront cart exactly in Test Your Rates to ensure a fair comparison.

3. Validate ShipperHQ Configuration

If the data and cart match but the rates still differ:

  • Double-check that weight, dimensions, packing rules, and shipping groups are set up correctly within ShipperHQ.

  • Make sure ShipperHQ can read these settings correctly from your eCommerce platform.

4. Additional Tips

  • Review any carrier-specific rules or rate adjustments that may apply only in one context.

  • Ensure you’re testing with the same origin address and shipping method visibility settings, i.e., Shipping Group Restrictions, Hide Methods Rules, Origin Restrictions, and Carrier Zone Restrictions.

If after these checks the discrepancy persists, gather examples of both rate results and contact ShipperHQ support for further investigation.
