May 2026: FedEx API Transition to REST

Understand what ShipperHQ's FedEx REST migration means for your account and what action, if any, you need to take

Table of Contents

FedEx Reauthentication

ShipperHQ has completed its integration with FedEx's new RESTful APIs. As of April 22, 2026, all new FedEx carrier connections in ShipperHQ use the new authentication method. See FedEx for current connection steps.

If you have an existing FedEx account, you may need to manually reauthorize the integration in ShipperHQ. This is a simple process that takes only a few minutes.

1. Log into the ShipperHQ Dashboard and navigate to Carriers

2. If you see "Reauthentication required - update now," next to Fedex, you will need to reauthenticate. Click "Update now." (If you don't see the "Update now" message next to your FedEx carrier, this means ShipperHQ has completed the reauthentication for you and no action is required.)

3. Enter your FedEx credentials and click Validate:

  • FedEx Account Number
  • Customer Name associated with your FedEx account
  • FedEx Account Address (This must be the pickup address on file with FedEx for your account)

    FedExAccountValidation

4. You will be asked to validate using a PIN or a recent FedEx invoice. Once you've validated, your reauthentication is complete.

⚠️ If validation fails, please Contact ShipperHQ Support for assistance, or review your entered information for accuracy and try again.

Overview

FedEx is transitioning from their legacy SOAP APIs to a new RESTful API platform. This change modernizes FedEx's infrastructure, bringing several benefits to customers and partners, including:

  • Faster performance - REST APIs process requests faster than the legacy APIs, providing less friction at checkout and decreasing the likelihood of timeouts.
  • Improved security - REST APIs use current authentication frameworks like OAuth 2.0, protecting your and your customers' data.

FedEx is requiring migrations to be complete by June 1, 2026. ShipperHQ has migrated to the new APIs ahead of that deadline. The FedEx Address Validation service was migrated separately in 2025 and is unaffected by this update.

What This Means for You

During the transition, you may need to re-authenticate or re-authorize your FedEx account in ShipperHQ.

We’ll notify you when and if action is required. These updates are account-specific, and not every account will need to take immediate steps.

Multiweight Pricing

There is a change in behavior for multiweight shipments for accounts with a multiweight contract with Fedex. Previously, multiweight shipments eligible for FedEx Ground and Home Delivery needed to be separately enabled in ShipperHQ for discounted pricing to take effect. With the new REST APIs, this pricing will take effect automatically, with no additional configuration in ShipperHQ.

Please reach out to your FedEx representative if you have questions about multiweight on your FedEx account.

What You Should Do Now

  1. Verify your email address in ShipperHQ This ensures you receive any FedEx-related notifications from ShipperHQ. Go to Account Settings in your ShipperHQ dashboard and confirm the email listed is current and monitored. To update it, see Request Account Email Change.
  2. Watch for an in-app notification on your FedEx carrier If your account requires re-authentication, a notification will appear on your FedEx carrier in ShipperHQ with step-by-step instructions. Complete this before June 1, 2026.
  3. Watch for emails from ShipperHQ ShipperHQ will send instructions to accounts that need to take action ahead of the deadline.

FAQ

Do I need to do anything now to keep FedEx working in ShipperHQ?

Which FedEx features have been migrated to the RESTful API?
