How to Set Up PUDOpoint

Overview

ShipperHQ has integrated the PUDOpoint alternate package delivery location service. With PUDOpoint enabled, ShipperHQ merchants can now offer customers the option to pick up their package at a convenient, PUDOpoint location instead of having their orders delivered to their home or office.

Benefits of ShipperHQ’s integration with PUDOpoint include:

  • Ship with any carrier: As a carrier-agnostic service, PUDOpoint location can use any carrier to ship packages.
  • Save on shipping costs: Since PUDOpoint locations are businesses, merchants pay commercial rates for shipments to these locations and avoid incurring residential delivery fees often required for home delivery.
  • ID verification: As a merchant that sells items that require ID validation such as tobacco or vape products, ShipperHQ gives you the ability to only display PUDOpoint locations that offer ID verification at time of package pickup.
  • Easy setup: It is a simple setup on your eCommerce site, so you can start offering PUDOpoint options easily without custom development.
  • ShipStation integration: ShipStation provides PUDOpoint address and ID support for merchant fulfillment already in their system to facilitate a smooth post-order workflow.

Requirements

Before you begin, please ensure you have the following:

  • A PUDO account
  • The In-Store Pickup Advanced Feature enabled on your ShipperHQ account

How to Set Up PUDOpoint

Use the steps outlined below to set up and configure PUDOpoint.

Step 1:  Set Up a Flat Rate or Table Rate Carrier

Use the steps listed below to to set up a flat rate or table rate carrier if you have not done so already.

  1. Log into your ShipperHQ account.
  2. Navigate to the Manage Shipping > Carriers dashboard.
  3. Click the + New to add a new carrier.
  4. Click the Custom Carrier option.
  5. Click the Flat Rate Carrier or Table Rate Carrier option.
  6. Input the name of the flat carrier you want your customers to see. Example: “PUDOpoint” or “PUDOpoint Pickup”.
  7. Click the Configure Carrier settings button.
  8. Input the price you want to charge your customers for using PUDOpoint into the Flat Rate Shipping Price field. 
  9. Click the Save button.

Step 2: Enable and Configure PUDOpoint

Use the steps outlined below to enable and configure PUDOpoint.

  1. Navigate to the Advanced Features dashboard.
  2. Click the In-Store Pickup feature to enable it.
  3. Click the OK, thanks button.
  4. Navigate to the Manage Shipping > Carriers dashboard.
  5. Click on the PUDOpoint carrier created in the previous section.
  6. Click the Advanced tab and scroll down to the Ship to Store Conifguration section.
  7. Select the PudoPoint Locations option from the Display Store Locations From dropdown menu.
  8. Input the max distance to show PUDOpoint locations surrounding the customer into the Maximum distance from store location field. 
  9. Input the max number of PUDOpoint locations to show the customer into the Maximum number of store locations in checkout field. 
  10. Select the Only show locations authorized for tobacco products checkbox if you have products that require ID verification. Note, this narrows down the PUDOpoint locations shown to customers to show locations that validate a customer’s ID.
  11. Click the Save button.
  12. PUDOpoint is now enabled and ready for use. Customers can now view PUDOpoint locations available to them from nearest to farthest.
